Information about Natal

Natal is known as the City of the Sun and is the capital city of the State of Rio Grande do Norte. 

Tourism is the major industry in Natal due to its all year round sunshine, with average temperatures of 20-33ºC and its stunning beaches.

Direct flights from most European cities are available, and as Natal is on the North coast, the flying time is only 8-9 hours.

The beaches are beautiful and have that ´wow´ factor, with banks of dunes over 8km long and 2 km wide, crystal clear and calm waters, coconut trees, hills and reefs.  There are fifteen beaches along its coast including the romantic Beach of Love (Praia do Amor).  For surfing the beaches further north are ideal with about twenty to choose from.

Due to its proximity to the sea many restaurants here specialise in fish and seafood.   The restaurants are not as international as in Sao Paolo or some of the larger resorts,
but eating out in Natal is excellent value for money with food that will satisfy the most demanding gourmet for a fraction of the cost in the UK .

There is plenty on offer for nightlife, including discos/clubs, pubs and the more traditional folklore shows and dances devoted to Natal and Brazilian culture.

Natal is an attractive and unspoilt destination, offering all the amenities of a modern city but still retaining a relaxed and tranquil atmosphere.
