Information about Brazil

Spanning a vast area between central South America and the Atlantic Ocean, Brazil is the largest and most populated country in South America .

It is the only Portuguese speaking country in the Americas after being colonised by Portugal , and is multiracial with European, Amerindian, African and Asian natives.

Brazil will take your breath away.  There is something for all the family with its dazzling and famous beaches, lively cities and forest trails.  Caving, scuba diving, golf, horse riding, sailing, surfing and soccer are just a few activities on offer in this vibrant country.

The climate of Brazil varies considerably.  The main tourist resort is in the Northeast of Brazil which offers a near perfect climate.  Annual average temperatures are around 27ºC, and with a flying time of between 7-8 hours to Europe and direct flights from a number of countries, it is easily accessible.

Carnivals are synonymous with Brazil .  The roots of the carnivals date back to the ancient Romans and Greeks, with the largest and most famous one in Rio de Janeiro , lasting a staggering 20 hours and taking place approximately 7 weeks before Easter Sunday.

Beaches in Brazil are famous and fabulous, with Rio de Janeiro , Copacabana and Ipanema the places to be seen and watch the world pass by.  You can people watch all day as there is always something happening. Brazil has some of the most exotic nightlife and nightclubs in the world with something for everyone. Most clubs open around midnight or after 1.00 am and closes when the last person standing leaves, and as there is no alcohol curfew this is usually around 5.00:6.00 am. 

As a cosmopolitan country,  Brazil offers tourists a wide variety of international cuisines.  Eating out in Brazil is also very affordable with excellent service, and it is worth sampling the local food and drink, which is Afro-Brazilian with the emphasis on seafood.

The cost of living in Brazil is around 20% lower than in the UK and it is a great place to invest as property prices are currently rising at 20% per annum.
